SAVE-THE-DATE and GIVE:  VOLUNTEER

After ASSP’s award-winning participation and giving to over 200 students in 2019, we are returning to Central High School to GIVE in 2020.

Central High School Jump Start Program:  The students are part of JumpStart, which is a program that awards students with an NCCER Certification in welding, electrical or carpentry before graduation.

What am I Volunteering for? The safety training will consist of 5 or 6 stations setup to teach key topics within the safety field, such as LOTO, power tools, fall protection, PPE, fire/emergency response, etc., in order to introduce the terminology and equipment to them before working in their field of study. We are asking for volunteers to man the booths to assist students on critical thinking for how they should handle the risks being presented.  Discussion and the hands-on experience will enhance learning and understanding of safety fundamentals.

Scenario Props:  We are requesting materials to create the scenarios. Anything is appreciated (damaged ladders, cords, PPE, LOTO equipment, machines with missing guards, etc.) and will be given back to you after the training.

Donate to CHS:  ASSP would like to leave CHS with supplies as we have in the past.  With your help, we can. Donations will be given at the end of our Student Safety Training. Companies who donate have the opportunity to be recognized/awarded during CHS’ annual CTE Excellence Awards. Items needed:  Ear Plugs, Clear Safety Glasses, Safety glasses that fit over prescription glasses, Welding Shield Stand, Flammables Cabinet.  All donations will be appreciated.

  • Time: 7:30am – 3pm (you do not have to stay the whole time)
