The Personnel Safety Advisor will work within the Site Safety, Security, Health & Environmental (SSHE) Division in Baton Rouge. This position will perform duties related to safety and health programs focused on workplace and process safety enhancement. Duties include conducting safety audits, managing incident investigations, safety program development, creating/modifying safety standards and work practices, and participating in risk assessments. The Personnel Safety Advisor will also ensure compliance with company and industry safety standards and participate in company and industry safety networks.

Job Role Responsibilities

  • Create new and modify existing site safety standards
  • Provide feedback to assist personnel in proper hazard assessment associated with work activities
  • Participate in incident investigations, safety, and regulatory audits as Subject Matter Expert
  • Communicate changes in work processes and hazard mitigation to line management
  • Participate in formal risk assessments
  • Review key safety systems and recommend corrective actions
  • Attend and actively participate in departmental and unit safety meetings
  • Provide technical leadership and promote best practice sharing on networks & work groups
  • Support effective identification, assessment, and prioritization of SSH&E risks
  • Support the tracking and completion of risk reduction activities in a timely manner

Job Role Requirements

  • A B.S. in Safety, Health, Environmental, or related field
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a safety professional in an industrial setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA safe work standards and industrial safety policies/procedures
  • Effective field intervention skills
  • Ability to effectively multi‐task and self-manage competing priorities
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Effective meeting facilitation, organizational & problem solving, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively work with spreadsheets to facilitate data analysis and communicate results via charts, tables, etc.
  • Proficient with standard software packages including: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook


Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Experience in process safety as well as personnel safety
  • Field audit experience at a large manufacturing facility
  • Experience in formal incident investigations
  • Proficiency with database software packages including MS Access, SharePoint, SAP
  • Knowledge of business control practices
  • Knowledge of Refinery and Chemical Plant operations and processes
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Engineering Standards and Practices
    • Industry codes and standards (ASME, API, NFPA, ANSI, etc)

  • Working knowledge of the applicable federal, state and local regulations applicable to industrial hygiene, indoor air quality, asbestos, and lead-based paint activities, including, but not limited to; States of Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi environmental regulations.
  • Maintain required asbestos, mold, lead and other industrial hygiene registration, certification, and licensing in multiple states.
  • Perform on-site inspections for environmental and industrial hygiene hazards in industrial, commercial, and public buildings. Activities will include the preparation of detailed inspection reports.  This could include chemical exposure, noise, heat stress, dust, silica, and ventilation testing.
  • Performs IH activities including but not limited to identification, assessment and control of potential chemical, physical and biological hazards in the workplace.
  • Ensures that occupational health practices and regulatory requirements are implemented
  • Oversees the maintenance, calibration and inventory of various types of Industrial Hygiene equipment
  • Experience in industrial hygiene activities at various industrial sites and requires experience with commercial and public building inspections.
  • Provide technical assistance and support; project design support, site work plan support, air sampling expertise and general industrial hygiene department support.
  • Provide on-site technical project management and air sampling services during environmental hazard abatement and industrial hygiene projects. Activities will include the preparation of detailed inspection reports, in accordance with our client’s (SOPs).
  • Prepare detailed technical written reports providing results of industrial hygiene services.
  • Prepare detailed written proposal for services as directed or requested.
  • Review project reports as directed or requested for compliance with our client’s protocols.


  • Bachelor of Science Degree preferred…or other degree.
  • Willingness to relocate for job assignments/ approximately 20% plus travel…
  • Ability to work well in at team environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to facilitate, manage, and coordinate with clients (accountability)
  • Strong communication skills (oral, written and presentation) and interpersonal skills with both team & clients.
  • State-specific licensure in industrial hygiene related disciplines is required, including asbestos, lead, and if required indoor air quality licensure. A valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance are required. This position requires the willingness to work a flexible schedule as project needs dictate.



  • Five years of industrial hygiene experience…strong field experience.
  • Minimum of three years of asbestos, lead, and indoor air quality experience
  • Would prefer the candidate have the proper accreditations with LDEQ in the asbestos and lead disciplines
  • Technical writing skills and aptitude.

Safety Instructor

We need a few local to Baton Rouge instructors (willing to travel on a plane if needed).   Please, we require certifications to instruct: example- OSHA, MSHA, NFPA and/ or others.    We expect our instructors to be very professional and appearance is key to this objective.  Experience is an advantage, but for the right person, not necessary.  We have a mission statement at Absolute Safety that we will review during our interview process.  Our expectations are high; we want to educate the students and add value to their career.

The EHS Leader, which is an individual contributor role, will be responsible for managing within a major International corporation, all environmental, health, and safety-related matters at a small (65 person) Pharmaceutical Plant in Baton Rouge Louisiana. The EHS Leader will implement company EHS policies and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and corporate standards. The EHS Leader must demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and influence change and ownership of EHS programs through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis. The EHS Leader must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. They must collaborate with the Headquarter Center of Excellence (COE’S) in incorporating Corporate EHS standards at their site and be capable of implementing those requirements on the shop floor. This is a hands-on position where daily shop floor interactions are required with the ability to develop and execute EHS tasks and technical experience across the three core disciplines of Safety, Health, and Environmental.


  • Possess a thorough understanding of local/regional regulations and the ability to work with these and company policies.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with all site operating permits and be able to negotiate effectively with local regulators.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance to all applicable Corporate EHS Policies (38).
  • Measure the sites’ performance against published requirements in EHS policies. For all deficiencies, identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies.
  • Be very familiar with computer software system and able to navigate a large corp relational EHS database.
  • Maintain effective time mgt and organization skills to prioritize work and keep visible the status of greater than 10 ongoing work streams.
  • Ensure EHS recordkeeping and data integrity and provides Operations with accurate reporting and metrics to support business EHS initiatives.
  • Understand completely how to work within High-Risk Programs including Lock and tag, Electrical, confined space, line breaking, hot work, and work from heights
  • Analyze EHS metrics and review incident weekly and monthly incident trends to discover trends to justify the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where the EHS risk is highest.
  • Analyze Global EHS Peer Review results and develop and implement solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent injury at other facilities.
  • Manage and mentor the site operational resources assigned to support EHS (specifically subsystems owners SSO’s).
  • Perform Industrial hygiene sampling and process safety reviews.
  • Perform detailed incident investigations.
  • Manage contractors effectively within the framework of EHS.
  • Effective train all site personnel.



Education Minimum Requirement:

  • BS/BA in Safety, Environmental, Chemical Engineering or related field required.
  • 5-7 years of increasing responsibilities in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Environmental – RCRA; SPCC; DGT ar primary needs along with all regulatory reporting obligations;
  • Safety – High-Risk work with a focus on LOTO, Confined Space, Electrical, Hot work; Process Safety; Machine Safety; incident investigations, training, emergency response, PPE use;
  • Health – IH practices leading to installing
